The history of Kiekens can be traced back to 1 May 1907, when H. Th. Kiekens founded the company in Amsterdam. The original object of the company was to manufacture fans and forges. The fans were intended to replace the traditional bellows, so the link to industrial fan systems was obvious from the start. The Almelo branch opened in 1947.
In the course of its nearly one hundred years of operations Kiekens, originally a machine manufacturer, focused on the production and sale of an expanding range of technical air treatment equipment. The principal product groups are industrial dust extractors, filters and fans.
In the 1970s, Kiekens was incorporated into Imtech Internatio Müller NV, an international enterprise. Kiekens became part of the Imtech division (mechanical engineering, installation and environmental technology).
On 1 January 1998 Kiekens Almelo changed hands. A consortium of new owners took over the company through the acquisition of all outstanding shares. In 2001 Kiekens Amsterdam terminated all its operations, and the fan division was transferred to Kiekens Products. Forty percent of the production capacity at Kiekens Almelo is used for fans and 60% for industrial dust extractors and installations. Of all dust extractors and dedusting equipment produced, 40% is marketed in the Netherlands; the other 60% is intended for export. Kiekens products have found their way across all of Europe, Asia, Australia and the United States.
